A small village in Bucks County, Washington Crossing is located directly across the river from Titusville in New Jersey which is connected by the Washington Crossing Bridge. Washington Crossing was formerly known as “Taylorsville”, and well known for George Washington’s crossing of the Delaware River during the American Revolutionary War. It is also home of the Washington Crossing Historic Park headquarters.

One popular aspect of the village is that on Christmas day, the town does a re-enactment of general George Washington crossing in the Delaware River with his troops. Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve

This is a 134-acre botanical garden, nature preserve and museum found just north of Washington Crossing, PA. To date, the preserve has about 1,000 of the 2,000 species that are native to Pennsylvania that grow in an naturalistic setting of meadows, woodlands, a creek, a pond, with a couple miles of walking trails. This is an excellent place for bird watching. It has about 100 taxidermic birds, 200 nests and 600 eggs that were given in 1972, all of which are displayed in photographic panels, exhibit cases and dioramas. It is open daily to visitors except during major holidays and they charge admission fee to non-members.

Washington Crossing Historic Park

A 500-acre site, the Washington Crossing Historic Park is divided into two sections. The first one is called the “lower park” and is located in Upper Makefield Township in Bucks County. This is where George Washington crossed the Delaware River during the American Revolutionary War. The lower park is home to 13 historic buildings. About 4.5 miles away is the second section of the park called the “upper park”. This is a 100-acre site containing the Thompson-Neely House and Bowman’s Hill Tower. The Thompson-Neely House was used as a military hospital, with about 40 to 60 graves of soldiers.
